The future of Marcus Rashford is in the hands of Marcus Rashford

There is a large amount of speculation suggesting that the player is going to sign for Aston Villa today but as it's just speculation, I'm writing about it here and not here.

And there will be Aston Villa fans that don't like this move and they'll be some that love it. I'm in neither camp at the moment, but I do see the appeal. I see it for Rashford and I see it for Aston Villa.

Rashford has an opportunity to stay in the Premier League, probably his home also and play for a side in the Champions League with a manager with a proven record. All he's got to do is put the work in.

And if he does his part, if he turns up to training 30 minutes early, he stays an hour after and he listens to and acts on what the coaching team and manager tell him, he'll likely show the world that the problem is with Manchester United and not him.

He'll win and prove all the doubters wrong. His value will soar and Aston Villa will probably take up the rumoured option to buy him in the summer and hope that it continues. He'll get back into the England side and he'll shine.

But only if he puts the work in, only if he gives 100% and only if he does what he's told.

On the other hand, if he thinks he's bigger than all this, if we are to believe that what got him to the place he is in right now is true, Aston Villa have taken a gamble on a player for five months. It's low risk for Aston Villa but the potential returns are massive.

Everyone knows Rashford had it in him, but is it still there and does he care enough? If this rumoured move comes off one of two things are going to happen and it's very much in his own hands how Marcus Rashford is talked about in years to come.
